Riopaila Castilla rejects the attack on workers in the rural area of Miranda, Cauca and the death of one of them.

Cali, April 15, 2023. The Riopaila Castilla Agroindustrial Group strongly rejects the attack against workers of one of its subsidiaries that occurred in the rural area of the municipality of Miranda, Cauca, this Saturday, April 15, which left one person dead and another injured.
 
The events that occurred occurred in the sector known as Lago de Botero around 9:00 am when two workers were attacked by members of illegal groups with firearms in the middle of their work in sugarcane and pineapple crops. Both of them, seriously injured and whose equipment assigned to their role was stolen, were taken to a care center to receive medical attention. Unfortunately, during the transfer, Jhon Jenner Hurtado, one of the attacked workers, lost his life as a result of the events.
 
We extend our deepest solidarity to his wife, son and other relatives of this worker who died in the midst of an unjustified attack, absolutely reprehensible. We also accompany the family and friends of the injured worker, who is out of danger according to the most recent medical report.
 
We request from the National Government and the competent authorities guarantees regarding human rights for Colombians, especially the right to life, work and food production. We call for this and other attacks that have been made on workers in the sugarcane agro-industrial sector, on private property and on the free development of companies, to be a reason for intervention in matters of security, where workers and families are affected. entire communities and the productive sector, a mobilizer of economic, social and environmental development in southwestern Colombia.
