Riopaila began as a panelero sugar mill on the grounds of Hacienda Riopaila, north of Valle del Cauca.

Riopaila SA Sugar Mill Inauguration
Dr. Hernando Caicedo inaugurates the Ingenio Riopaila SA and the sugar factory is installed in the district of La Paila, south of the municipality of Zarzal.

Central Castilla SA started as a panelero sugar mill.

Inauguration of Central Castilla SA

Belisario Caicedo School Creation

The Belisario Caicedo School is created

IDLA Creation

Ingenio Riopaila SA supports the

Development of La Paila, IDLA,

Creation of the Working School

The Escuela Obrera de La Paila is created to train the township community in arts and crafts required by Riopaila SA and Colombiana SA.

Castilla Central Boiler Operation

The high-pressure boiler at Central Castilla comes into operation.

Recreational Center Construction

The Recreational Center is built in La Paila, Zarzal.

Integration Process

daily grinding of 8,000 tons of cane per day (TCD).

Turbogenerators are installed to

Refinery starts up

The two companies split the industrial operation giving rise to Riopaila Industrial SA and Castilla Industrial SA In turn, Riopaila Industrial SA obtains the certification

Origin RIOPAILA CASTILLA SA

Riopaila Industrial SA and Castilla

Obtaining ISO 14001 Certificate

The Castilla Plant obtains
ISO 14001 certification. The Riopaila Plant consolidates daily grinding at 9,000 TCD and the Castilla Plant at 8,000 TCD.

Mechanized Harvest

Creation of the Hernando Caicedo scholarship, start of Mechanized Harvesting with
capacity of 12,000 TCD and signing of the commitment to adhere to the Global Compact.

2010
High Plains Operations

Operations begin in the Colombian Altillanura. The La Conquista Project, in Puerto López (Meta), and the Veracruz Project, in Santa Rosalía and La Primavera (Vichada).

2011
Right to Happiness Agreement

The agreement is signed for the Right to Happiness, acquisition of land in the department of Vichada for the planting of Palm and Soya.

2015
Inauguration of the Distillery and Cogeneration Plant

The doors are opened to two important projects for the Colombian agribusiness sector: the Fuel Alcohol Distillery Plant and the Energy Cogeneration Plant.
