65 years of social commitment are commemorated in the Colombian southwest

The Caicedo González Riopaila Castilla Foundation celebrates 65 years of commitment to the development and generation of social value in the territories where Riopaila Castilla operates.
Its commitment to territorial development involves an average of 15 thousand participants per year.
In recent years, it has carried out initiatives for public investment in education and food security totaling $82 billion.

Cali, November 30, 2022 – The Caicedo González Riopaila Castilla Foundation (FCGRC), the first foundation of business origin in Valle del Cauca, celebrates 65 years of social commitment. With alliances and broad citizen participation, this entity has promoted 35 public investment projects in education and food security that total $82 billion, initiatives that materialize 19 public policies and development plans in the municipalities where Riopaila Castilla operates.

During these six decades, its vocation for social issues has allowed it to innovate in management to promote territorial development, expanding development opportunities for approximately 15 thousand people per year. In agri-food chains, it works with more than 1,500 small producers of vegetables, fruits and vegetables. In education, it promotes 38 technical and technological programs with regional public universities that open opportunities for labor mobility to more than 780 certified students annually.

“We have traveled with the territories for 65 years, accompanying their transformations based on concerted proposals that arise from local knowledge and realities. Our interest is to continue working, from territorial diversity, in a multi-stakeholder dialogue that manages to agree on solutions to advance in closing gaps that make it difficult to improve the living conditions of populations with higher levels of social vulnerability,” commented Ana Milena Lemos. Paredes, executive director of the Caicedo González Riopaila Castilla Foundation.

To ensure the permanence of these processes, the Foundation strengthens the social fabric through the activation of 14 citizen networks and leadership schools, develops capacities in 150 social organizations for impact on public affairs and social control, and strengthens public institutions where 170 servers participate.

The entity, with the aim of reaffirming its social commitment, held an event in which it brought together a little more than 350 guests including community leaders, delegates from local and regional governments, allies, workers, Riopaila Castilla suppliers, representatives of the social sector. , among others, to commemorate its anniversary. The event took place at the Hacienda Cañasgordas in Cali, where participants from the programs were present and shared their experiences.

The commemoration included a panel on “convergences for territorial development” with the participation of national and international experts in public, social, environmental and economic issues such as Ana Fernanda Maiguascha, president of the Private Competitiveness Council; Ángela Penagos, president of Finagro; Carlos Enrique Moreno, former presidential advisor and businessman; Juan Mayr, former Minister of the Environment; Myriam Mendez, executive director of Valiente es Dialogar; Rossana Mejía, senior advisor of the Association of Community Councils of Northern Cauca; and Santiago Rojas, Northern Regional Manager of the Andean Development Corporation.

The event was also attended by Pedro Cardona López, executive president of Riopaila Castilla, who stated that “our Foundation is the expression of the social commitment to Colombia of the Riopaila Castilla Agroindustrial Group and its shareholders. We are proud of the trajectory and impact on the development of communities, a legacy that was born with our founders, Mr. Hernando Caicedo and Mrs. Cecilia González de Caicedo, and that remains latent and committed to territorial development."
